Thursday 16th July was LinkedIn Love Your Recruiter Day in the UK for all the amazing in-house recruiters.

We nominated our fantastic Recruitment Manager Kristy Nickels to be singled out for her accomplishments. Kristy has almost 9 years’ experience working in Recruitment, all of them with us at Christies Care. What makes her remarkable and a valued member of our team is her warmth, empathy and ability to find great carers and support them as they undertake their induction training and find their feet within the company.

Kristy manages an effective team of highly competent Recruitment Coordinators that processes over 300 applications from several thousand who started the application process each year. The team have responsibility for protecting our clients, vulnerable adults, by implementing safe recruitment. Kristy’s helpful manner and dedication to her job, and our company, means that she often goes above and beyond the normal confines of recruitment to support the carers and ensure a smooth transition into our business.

Just one example is a carer from New Zealand who had an issue with her visa entitlement in the UK, as the government changed the employment law relating to her visa once she arrived. Kristy spent a lot of time with her to complete her new visa application and paperwork, making numerous phone calls to visa companies and the employer helpline to fast track her application.

She had nowhere to stay so Kristy sorted out free accommodation for her for two weeks. Kristy posted her visa application and dealt with the whole process to enable the carer to concentrate on her induction training. She has now received her visa and is happily working for us.

We encouraged the thousands whose live-in carer journey Kristy had enabled to share how she helped them on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #recruiterlove.

LinkedIn chose 10 recruiters from submissions around the UK and Kristy was one of them!
